Truck Rental Agency Able to go Toe-to-Toe with Industry Heavyweights Thanks to SEO

The vehicle rental industry is extremely competitive in Australia, dominated by big names that have locations right across the country, such as Hertz, Budget Car Rental, Thrifty, Avis, Europcar, and more. When our client was seeking to establish themselves in this space, these were the competitors they would be going up against.

Challenge

When our client approached SEO Web Logistics back in March of 2017, they had locations set up throughout the East Coast of Australia, as far north as Townsville, and as far south as Melbourne. They wished to rank for all locations in which they had a presence.

Solution

While the idea of outranking the industry heavyweights seemed a daunting task at first, we knew it wasn’t impossible. For starters, large companies often don’t cover every facet of their services with meticulous detail, because they don’t have to. They know that their brand is strong enough to attract and entice customers. This creates opportunities for those such as our client.

Content was to be the weapon that would be deployed to help us take advantage of the openings that the competitors had given us. The problem was, the client’s website had very little in the way of content to begin with. There was a home page, about page, service page and a contact page, but that was pretty much it.

A content strategy was put in place, requiring the creation of content for all areas in and around the client’s locations. Cities were focused on first, followed by surrounding suburbs that still had monthly search volumes. All city pages were linked to their respective suburb pages and vice versa, ensuring that each page had a sufficient number of internal links. Blog posts were then created, with further links pointing to the suburb and city pages.

For Local SEO, Google My Business listings were created for all of the client’s locations. Each listing included an optimised business description along with a set of custom service headings and descriptions, providing potential customers with further information about the client’s offerings. Additionally, citations were created for each GMB listing on a monthly basis, helping to strengthen the client’s visibility in Google’s Local Pack.
